so many things...

1. So glad that it is chilly outside. I love scarves and coats!

2. My little ring finger is distracting! I never imagined that I would look so many times at my left hand. It is definitely the center of my attention. It takes me twice as long to go anywhere on campus because I am always being stopped.

3. I have so much to with my school work. 2 take home tests due TOMORROW! I have alot to do.

4. Halloween is TOMORROW! I am so sad that I am not going to be able to make the Chapel Hill trip to Heather and Adams party. I am dressing up as a pirate tomorrow. Don't worry,I will take pics!

Lets pray that our day is productive and that time is well used!

Beautiful reminder

It is snowing!

I woke up this morning to beautiful snow covering the cars and the grass. The ground is to warm for the snow to stick on the roads, but just a few degrees cooler we would have a sn
ow day no doubt!

This is no ordinary October snow. To call this precipitation a flurry would be a slap in the face to mother nature. Just moments ago is was a full out down pour. Absolutely beautiful and a constant reminder of how Jesus washed my sins white as Snow. I am forgiven. I am delivered from the bondage that I could so easily be tortured in.
Today is going to be a day of Thanks.

The Snow: my beautiful reminder of how I am set FREE!

at home <3

yesterday was great. I woke up to cold weather and rain and to a slew of text messages wishing me a happy birthday. I made my way to the cafe to get some breakfast before class. Rose met me there with a little surprise. The Birthday day sash. I made the birthday sash for her birthday and forced her to wear it around all day. Well what goes around comes around. I was able to make the trip home yesterday afternoon and was happy to be able to spend some time with my sisters. We all, including Jordan, Dad, and Grandparents, went out for a birthday dinner at Carrabbas. It was really nice. It was good to see pawpaw and grandmother. Momma Jordan and I ended up spending the rest of the day at Target( I was going to get those boots...I was not impressed) and came home to eat the Red Velvet cake cookies I made for him and have a little glass of homemade muscadine wine. It was a really nice Birthday.

Today, I am going to go vote early, or try to at least.
Jordan has a whole day plan to go to "the spot" and shoot skeet and ride four wheelers. The Spot is one of a kind. It is a piece of land that is literally a backwoods clearing that Jordan and his friend Scott built a little cabin on. They have a porch swing and a wood stove. There is even little bunk beds in there in case they want to stay the night. Oh, there is even an outhouse( I usually choose to hold it). Well anyways, we are meeting Jordan's sister and her husband down there to have some fun and will probably end up grilling out later tonight.

My Goal: Vote early. Do some studying!!

Looks like..

the weather man is sticking to his guns. Rain rain rain. I guess the camping trip is looking like its not going to happen. So who knows what the birthday plans are going to be. I think Jordan has a few things planned to hang out but other than that I am just going to plan to spend time with family. It will be a good weekend either way.

Well, I got to play momma today! I got to babysit baby Ryann Weeks. She is the most adorable thing ever. I got to dress her for the day and take her to the cafe for lunch. She has just learned to wave so she was naturally telling everyone hello and goodbye. Precious!

guess what tomorrow is?? :)

Oct 22, 2008

warmer wednesday??

Not a chance! The weather man said himself that he hoped we enjoyed yesterdays upper 60s because that would be the last time we saw "warm" weather in awhile. Part of me says 'YES!' because I finally get to pull my coats out of hibernation, and the other part of me is sad to put my summer clothes away for a few months. Warm/cold clothes transitions are always weird for me. I almost forget how to dress myself when I have to change my wardrobe. Its like I have to get back in to the swing of things and remember how to look cute. haha. oh the stresses in life. right? wow, I suddenly feel so guilty complaining over my schizophrenic wardrobe malfunctions when I should be reading about the election that is happing in 2 WEEKS or doing my microbiology homework.

2 more days till im 22! Plans for now are to go camping with Jordan and his family for our birthdays. We will see how that works out. The weather man also said that rain would ruin my camping trip. Well I am telling right now that I will not be to happy to hike and camp in a freezing down pour.

Jenna Set the Date!! May 16th 2009!! YAY!

view from my window

it feels so much like fall today! The wind is chilly and is blowing colorful leaves all over the ground. I was walking back to class just a few minutes ago and was swarmed by a whirlwind of the painted leaves. It put me in such a mood that I had to come put on Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald and Frank right away. When I look out my window I can see the surrounding mountains splotched with color. The sky is blue and my hands are still chilled from the trek back to the dorm. 3 days until my birthday! The girls here have already been so sweet to celebrate my birthday early. Sunday night a few girls from the RA staff cooked dinner for me and we were able to eat together. Last night Michelle lit a little candle that was stuck into a pumpkin roll slice. YUMMY! She also did a little "hannah triva" game in the meeting. It was cute.

In the spirit of my birthday, I did a little online shopping. Here are my favortie finds:Black boots from target. never can go wrong with a pair of target shoes.

Green wool Coat from Old Navy. Too Cute! I can just picture so many outfits with this coat.
Gold/Red Bangle from Old Navy. I always love to have some red. New Holiday Bracelet???

New Katy VanZeeland Bag. MY WEAKNESS. I will wait for this one to go on sale, but I love it!

Happy Fall and Stay Warm!

extra special weekend

wow. so much happened in the past 72 hours. Friday Rose Ashleigh and I took our much anticipated road trip to Raleigh. We arrived at the Grindstaff's (which is decorated absolutley precious!) freshened up quickly and made our way to the fair. It rained the entire time. Poured. The Concert was fun, but more like just to say that I had been to a Jason Aldean concert. A few parts were really fun and entertaining but for the most part the show was slow. We left before the concert was over to ensure roasted corn and fried oreos. We all were troppers. Jenna and Ashleigh the most because they didnt have umbrellas.

We were all soaked to the bone when we left and were ready to get dry and comfy.
Saturday we all woke up and our wonderful host made us homemade pumpkin pancakes. They were incredible. We also had a chance to see the start of her fall/halloween decorations for her house. It made me want to have a house to decorate!

Before our trip back to Montreat we were able to stop at a friends house that lives in Raleigh. It was fun to see her home and family. We stopped at my house on our way back to see my family. My momma and sisters are so cute. It was great to see them.

I also had a excited phone call. Here is how it went: me: Hello? Jenna: He Proposed!!! me: WHAT??? Jenna: IM ENGAGED!!! me: OH MY GOSH! **Starts crying** I'M SO HAPPY!!!

Its so strange when one of your best friends gets engaged. We have talked about this moment since we were little girls and now it is finally here. I could not be more happy for her. CONGRATULATIONS future Mrs. Pope!

Raleigh Bound

Let me just say how excited I am about going to see Heather. SO EXCITED! I am happy to be with friends this weekend. We are planning on leaving the Treat right after classes to make the trip down the mountain to the middle of the state.Today and tomorrow I vow to be stress free and have as much fun as possible. It looks like the weather is against us today for the fair, but hopefully we will be able to look over the dreariness of the day and have blast. Rain or no Rain we are going! Besides the fact that some of my besties will be with me this weekend, I am looking forward to this concert. I love Jason Aldean, and yes, he is a country artist. lol. A week from today will be my Birthday (and Jordans birthday), then the next friday will the Halloween. Looks like every weekend for the rest of October is planned and full of fun!

tuesday coffee

I am well into my usual Tuesday routine of class, tutoring 2 adorable fifth grade girls and homework at power house perks. I figured I should take a few moments to write and fill you in on the past few days. Fall break is over (sadness) and there was no transition from break to classes. My classes picked up like we were never away. I had to get it in gear fast. The last few days of break we much better than expected. I had a looming feeling that break may be more of a stress due to trying to be in multiple places at once. Juggling spending time with friends, family and Jordan. It all worked out just fine. No tears, no hair loss, no frazzled nerves. My day with brit and jen went great we had a blast. Saturday, Jordan treated me to a matinee showing of FireProof. Let me just say right now, that all married couples or couples thinking about marriage should see this movie! It is so encouraging and inspiring. Jordan and I both were touched deeply by this little movie. Sunday my family, Jordan, James, cooper and tucker went on a sweet little picnic to the mountains. The leaves are so colorful on the parkway near boone. I love how the Lord reveals his marvel through the fall season. It is definitely my favorite. Raleigh road trip with the girls is coming up soon! I am so excited!!

morning coffee

I love waking up to the smell of Columbian coffee. In all actuality though, I rarely have the chance to wake up to the wonderful smell. But I am just as satisfied with putting on a pot after I am awake. Being at home has been such a good break for me so far. I have been able to spend time with my family and Jordan. Today I have plans to go have a girls day with Brittany and Jenna. I think we are going to take our adventure to Charlotte to try to "spice" the day up a little bit. This morning has consisted of laundry, dishes and babysitting the new member of our family, Tucker. Oh he is adorable and no one can resist those eyes, but he is a pistol. He is all over the place. Completely content with wherever he is and whatever he is playing with. The grass blades in the yard touch his belly which, in my opinion, is why he will NOT use the potty in the yard. He chooses to use the driveway or patio (if not secretly in the house behind a chair). He is cute no way to get around that but a handful. I have enjoyed being home with him. Cooper and Tucker are so funny together, a definite love-hate relationship. Tucker loves Cooper, Cooper hates Tucker. Haha. Well I cant hear Tuck running around so that must mean he is into something. I am going to finish my morning coffee and fold laundry before getting ready to go with the girls. I am excited about the day with them!

lovely morning

What a rainy day. Usually rainy days the atmosphere around campus is mopey, but today spirits are high and happy. Fall break starts today. I am so excited about heading home and seeing my family and Jordan. I am also going to be able to spend the day with Brittany and Jenna on friday. I never get to see my best friends, so we have planned to make the most out of that day. Friday will consist of manicures, pedicures and a full day of shopping :) At the moment I am sipping some coffee and slowly packing up for the trip home. I am content and relaxed. I love the feeling I have when I am about to head home. Pure happiness. So....With coffee in hand I will toast to a wonderful fall break. Stress free and full of fun.

freedom

its amazing how a free afternoon can change your mood. Work was canceled for this evening and I have nothing planned from now until tomorrow morning. I feel like a weight is lifted from my shoulders and I have no pressure from deadlines or schedules. I am going to spend the afternoon reading my new book , The Shack, which is absolutely amazing so far. I guess I should also spend a little time working on some homework and studying. It is such a fall day today. The leaves are starting to change colors and the air is brisk. When I woke up this morning to go to class, there was a little drizzle but by lunch time the sun was shinning and the colors of the trees from the surrounding mountains looked amazing. I love this time of year.

Oct 6, 2008

almost over.

for the past week I have been bombarded with take home tests and work set problems among an assortment of other tasks assigned for my classes. I felt like I had a pretty good handle on my work load until this weekend. But, like always the Lord gave me the strength to get everything done. I turned in a test this morning and am working on the last of my load this afternoon. Fall break is within sight and you better believe my eyes are fixed on the arrival of Wednesday afternoon. Break cannot come soon enough.

Oct 5, 2008

Sweet Sunday.

I knew I was excited for a reason. Church was simply amazing. Jerry addressed Legalism in his message today. The Title of the Sermon was "Peanut Butter wont make you Spiritual. It was exactly what I needed to hear and just what I needed to redirect my focus on the Lord.
Check My links (www.graceforall.org) to listen to the sermon. Check under Titus Project 10/5

My body is about give out. The lack of sleep I have been getting is really starting to get to me. I had my cup of coffee this morning (with pumpkin spice creamer) and was "bright eyed and bushy tailed" for church. The coffee started wearing off by lunch time and I was ready for a nap. My planned 30 min nap turned into a almost 3 hour nap. I need to get it in gear. The beautiful day, and wonderful fellowship with friends was clashing with my need to do school work. Now that I am rested, I have no more excuses. So I am off to make coffee with Italian Sweet Cream creamer and sitting in my green chair to study the night away.

Until tomorrow...

results.

my body and mind are completely worm out. But I am so pleased to announce that Seniors/Freshys dominated in the powder puff game. I came out with some battle scars and bruises, but also with sweet victory. I cannot stop thinking about how many things I need to do this weekend. I have to complete a take home test, and study for another crazy science class among a handful of small, tedious tasks. So, to solve all my procrastinating problems, I am going salsa dancing tonight.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my dear friend ROSE------------------------>
i love you very much and am so thankful for your friendship.

Let me end with just saying that I am so excited about Grace tomorrow. I had to miss last Sunday, and am totally pumped for bible study and the worship service. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful church home here in the beautiful mountains.

goodnight.

TGIF

Despite the near chaos with homecoming this weekend, I am still so very thankful for today being Friday. I am almost done with classes today. Genetics and Calculus II under my belt and I only have one left this afternoon, microbiology. Fridays bring this sense of freedom. Even though I realize MWF classes are my challenge, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel on Fridays. Today is a special Friday which adds to my excitement. For homecoming, Montreat is putting on its first PowderPuff game since the 1960s. Seniors/Freshman vs. Juniors/Sophomores. Oh Yes I can smell the victory. Seniors/Freshys are wearing pink and the "others" are wearing blue. Being my senior year, I decided that I am going to go all out on this. I love some competition mixed with pigtails and a pink shirt. I am even cutting down my nails so not to interfere with my perfect spiral that will lead us to victory. Let me just say that the sun is shinning the air is cool and the emotions are high. Exact combinations we need to win!

Oct 2, 2008

Its October!

October is my favorite month out of the year (not only because of my birthday).
I love walking in to grocery stores to see a mound of pumpkins for sell and to see local churches hosting pumpkin patch fund raisers. I love planning our pumpkin party social for the dorm which will include carving pumpkins, roasting the seeds, apple cider and of course fall card making. October is full of wonderful things to look forward to
: Fall Break. NC State Fair, Jordan's and my Brithday (its the same Oct. 24th!), Pumpkin party's and Halloween! The air has already turned cool in Montreat and I love walking to class in a coat with a warm cup of coffee in my had. I was also so excited to switch my wall flower fragrance to pumpkin spice today!

new at this.

wow. I never pictured myself as the "blogging" kind. A few close friends have started into their blogging careers, and I have enjoyed so much keeping up with their lives. I want to share my life in a way that is intimate for my closest friends and family. I desire for the people closest to my heart (even though far in distance) to be able to keep up with me and my endeavors. I am about to embark on brand new things. Big Things. Scary things. Exciting things. I want you to share these moments with me. Y
