Rag Ball

One GREAT thing about Alex. County are the fundraiser rag ball tourneys in the summer.

Families who have a tragedy usually will host a tourney to raise money for their loved ones honorary scholarships or to pay medical bills. It really is amazing to see everyones support.

3-4 straight weekends of playing ball with about 12-15 teams playing each weekend.

OK. I am so over it already. 13hrs of STRAIGHT play time today is RIDICULOUS. Started @ 8am and finished @ 9pm. shew-wee.

The rules are very similar to slow pitch co-ed softball if that helps any with the explanation of what Rag ball is in the first place.

Softball of any kind in this county is super competitive. From State titles to a pick up game, there are gonna be tempers flaring. I mean really, Rednecks with a bat and ball...you can do the math. In the middle of a heated game our precious 4month preggo 3rd baseman yells out "We need to start passing out the Xanax!!" 4months preggy and playing ball! She even laid out for a line drive and made the play! That kid has no chance of a non-competitive future.

Well think of me and mr. H tomorrow. Every muscle in my body is going to be screaming mercy. Bless. I am already feeling parts of my body I forgot I had.

what a day it has been

wow. what a glorious day.

First off, I am now swimming with my grandmother 4 days a week. 6am. up and at em @ 5 to make sure I make it on time for our "swim date" which by the way has been so much fun! I am the youngest by probably 30 yrs and am starting to catch on to my swim buddies hilarious sense of humor. I even wore a shower cap with rollers underneath yesterday. oh yes I did.

well TODAY swimming went great. I felt like I got a great workout in. When I finished my shower and started getting ready for work I suddenly went into panic mode. I realized I didn't have my BRA! I left that stupid boob holder at home. GAH! I had to make a quick decision. One of the locker room ladies mentioned over my shoulder that I should go wild and go free. bahaha. Not with these twin girls. Not a chance. So I decide to make a pit stop at wally world and get a new sports bra. Yeah a sports bra. I can use that when I get on the treadmill sometime soon. *wink* Well off I go. Secure in my decision to go get a new bra, I jump into Janet the Jeep and crank. nothing. Crank. NOTHING. Oh my Lord. really? REALLY?? Just chill. Pray. Chill. Finally Janet decided to cooperate and she cranked right up. Shew-wee. I make it to town and decide that I am not going to waste anytime in the "W" store and to go straight into work not look at anyone and just head straight to the bathroom to change. Ooooh no. I walk in and I have patients waiting on me. Ok. Quick think now. I try to postion myself so that my shirt hangs off of my chest so you cant really tell I dont have on MUCH needed support. FINALLY I get a few seconds and excuse myself to the ladies room. I come back much relieved and surprisingly comfy in my new sports bra and get back to my patients. Well here he comes. Mr. B. Quite spry for a upper 80s gentlemen. Usually overly flirty and touchy feely. Tall, slender and hunched over (He tries to look taller than he is though when he comes to my station). We engage in the normal convo, weather, family, the d@!* wait he had to endure for the lab. BUT it had to be TODAY. Oh yes. Mr. B casually said, " Honey, you really need to stop eating so much. I can tell you have put on a few pounds. You know, gained some weight" WHAT THA *@%&*^(*&^%#$%! Instead of punching out an old man, which I had a slipt millisecond thought to do just that, I chuckled lightly and said " Yes I have noticed. I really dont like to be reminded of the obvious thank you." He didn't really catch my drift and just continued with his usual babble. I guess I should just take a hint. Which brings be back around to that whole 6am swimming thing. I must remember that dang bra in the morning.

Guess what? My dad is headed over right now to pass along a letter that came in the mail.

JURY DUTY. Figures.

11 months ago!

whoa. I havent blogged in Exactly 11 months. dang girl get with it!

Well synopsis time.

3 friends have been married. 4 friends are preggo. puppys have grown.

Me? well, I'm about to celebrate two years with my amazing hubby, making jewelry, still applying for school and waiting for babies for just a little while longer. *wink*

Ellie is BACK!

Praise the Lord

In a desperate attempt to find our baby puppy I made signs to put up a major road intersections.


Well... Hubs got a call from a lady yesterday who reported that she saw our sign and had seen Ellie the day before. Ellie had made it about 5 miles away from our house. That little Squirt.

One perk of living in a small town (well depending on the situation) is that everyone knows everyone. In this case it was a Perk b/c the lady who called saw and knew the lady who picked up Ellie and took her home. Phone calls were made and now Ellie is back home!

I slept so good last night :)

Missing Puppy

My heart is completely broken this morning.

Our"adopted" 6month old Cocker Spaniel went missing Saturday afternoon.
Her name is Ellie. She is completely black and wearing a pink(probably dirty) collar.

If anyone in the Statesville, Taylorsville, Hickory area has seen her PLEASE let me know!

hubs and I got new phones this weekend.
we are in love.

we both got the Blackberry Curve 8530
huge upgrade from hubby's dinosaur Samsung that would barely picture text.
I am totally obsessed with the game Word Mole.
Hubs is loving his 24-7-365 ESPN.com access.

After months of saving and being super frugal, its nice to have a little splurge :)

WOW...life moves so quickly.


Life update:

I am working FULL TIME!
The Lord has blessed Mr. H and I with so Much this first 6 months of marriage. We have been able to save more money than we had planned to and I have really TRULY enjoyed learning how to be a good steward of money.

We are getting ready to spend an evening filled with family, food and FOOTBALL!

Our first Holiday as Mr.& Mrs. H

First off,

Dad-in-law is finally at home after a week in the hospital. He is moving SLOW (cant put on his socks and shoes by himself and can hardly stand and sit on his own) but is tickled to be in the comfort of his own home. He has an incision that is almost 2 feet long across his torso and around to his back and is bearing 40-50 staples. ouch! Hopefully he will get plenty of rest and heal quickly.


Secondly I must show pictures of my first holiday season being married!

Winston Salem Week

Mr. H and I, along with his whole family are currently sitting in the surgical family waiting room at Baptist Hospital in Winston, NC. We have set up "camp" with snacks, games and of course our laptops. We plan to be in and out of the hospital all week.

His dad is in surgery to fix a aneurysm that was found in his Kidney about a month ago after he suffered a 2month kidney stone.
We are expecting a 3-6hr waiting period and are anxious to see if everything went well.

Please be praying for dad-in-law and the rest of our family.

unexpected kindness

...will definitely put a person in the holiday spirit...I was out n' about yesterday running errands and 'restocking' for my small jewelry business.
I was rushing around and almost on the brink of being totally stressed out. As I was attempting to leave one of my first stops of the day, I packed the packages in my car and tried to crank it. would not crank.
I couldn't get a hold of Mr. H and I was starting to panic. My jeep has had a recent history of acting up, so my mind was racing trying to figure out my dilemma. I got out of my car and lifted the hood to see if there were any obvious warning signs (hoping they would jump out at me b/c I haven't the slightest clue on what to do with cars).
There was a man waiting in a car a couple of spots over. I walked over to him and asked if he had jumper cables. He said he did not, but without hesitation he got out, rummaged through a bag in his car and brought out tools. Fixed a couple of things under the hood of my jeep and now she runs like new!
With tears in my eyes, all I could say was "Thank you, Merry Christmas!"
Totally put my day yesterday and the Holiday season perspective in check.

Thank you Lord for sending me someone to remind me what Christmas is about. Selfless giving. Of yourself and of ourselves to others.

ok so I didn't mean to lie....

Sister is going with me today to get a few errands done and to try to tackle the last of my Christmas Shopping list.

Busy Saturday

Wish Me Luck and Say a Prayer...

I have the ASPT National Certification Exam this morning.

Mr. H is driving to the exam and afterwards we are headed up to Newland,NC (where there is 100% chance of snow) for my cousins birthday.


I just want this test out of the way and on our way to see beautiful mountain snow!

monday morning madness

Happy Monday and Last day of November!

This morning started out like any other day, resistant to getting out of bed and my hair looking like Mr. H gave me a head nuggy during the night.

I did get up, threw on a sweat shirt and headed to the kitchen to fix us our morning oatmeal.
Oatmeal fixing went well and we proceeded to the living room to watch the Early Show like we always do.

While in motion of sitting down on the couch, my arm somehow hit the spoon in the bowl. The spoon flipped up in the air sending HOT oatmeal all over my sweatshirt, floor, coffee table and leg!
Screaming I raked all the oatmeal off my leg into the floor and ran to the bathroom. Mr. H ran after me and got a wet washcloth to help clean me up.

total chaos.

Well the house is cleaned up but my poor thigh has burn blisters from the stupid oatmeal!
I think we may turn to another,safer, breakfast food for awhile. at least until my clumsiness wears off.


I have jewelry shows everyday this week so today is all about making jewelry!
I am also making bath towel wraps...so I will me a busy bee today.
